What you need
Steps
Open the Photos app, go to the People album and name every face the app has grouped. Named people feed Memories, search and home camera alerts.
Long press the Lock Screen, tap Customize and add a Photos widget set to shuffle one favorite album. Add the same widget to your Home Screen.
Tap the Search tab and combine terms, such as a place plus an object plus a year. Add a person's name or a favorite to narrow the results further.
On your Apple TV, open Settings, then Screen Saver, and choose your personal photo album so the TV shows your library when it sits idle.
In the Apple Home app, link recognized faces to people you know, so camera notifications tell you who arrived rather than just reporting motion.
Scroll to the bottom of the Photos library, tap Edit on the collections row and drag your most-used albums and media types to the front.
Open the For You tab, pick a Memory and use the edit controls to add or remove photos and choose a title, look and music track.
Turn on iCloud Shared Library and invite the people you shoot with. Their photos land in one library that everyone can search and edit.
Check Photos settings: confirm iCloud Photos is on, switch on Shared with You, and decide whether hidden and recently deleted albums are shown.
Tips and common mistakes
Name faces once and keep the names consistent, because unnamed groups drag down search and Memories quality.
Point the Lock Screen widget at one small album rather than the whole library, so the same strong photos keep surfacing.
A Memory you like can be pinned or added to a favorite so it stays easy to find later.
Anyone you invite to a Shared Library can add and delete photos, so agree the ground rules first.
Questions
Will naming people delete or change my photos?
No. Naming a face only adds a label to the group the app already created, and you can merge or rename groups at any time.
Can I use these steps without iCloud?
Most of them work on the phone alone, but Shared Library, Memories quality and Apple TV screensavers rely on iCloud Photos being switched on.
How do I undo a Shared Library?
Open Photos settings, tap Shared Library and choose Leave or stop sharing. Your own photos stay in your personal library.
