Steps
Open Google Chrome on your Windows PC. Click the three-dot menu in the top right corner of the browser window.
Hover over More tools and click Clear browsing data. A new settings tab opens with the clear options.
At the top of the window, set the Time range dropdown to All time to wipe everything, or Last hour or Last 24 hours for a quick clean.
Tick the Cached images and files checkbox. Leave Passwords and other sign-in data unticked so your saved logins stay.
Optionally tick Cookies and other site data, but know this signs you out of most websites.
Click the Clear data button. Chrome closes the window and starts removing the files.
Wait a few seconds, then reload a website you had trouble with to check that it loads correctly.
Tips and common mistakes
Only tick Cached images and files if you want to stay signed in everywhere.
Clearing cookies logs you out of sites, so skip that box unless you need a full reset.
If Chrome still runs slow, close extra tabs and restart the browser after clearing.
You can reopen the same window fast with Ctrl+Shift+Delete in Chrome.
Questions
Will clearing the cache delete my passwords?
No. Passwords are stored separately and only get removed if you tick the Passwords box. Leave it unticked and your saved logins stay.
How often should I clear the Chrome cache?
Every few weeks is fine for most people. Clear it sooner if pages show old content or load slowly.
Does clearing the cache delete my bookmarks?
No. Bookmarks and history are separate from cached files and are not affected by the Cached images and files option.
