Steps
Shut the laptop down and unplug the power adapter. Remove the battery if it is easy to take out.
Lay the laptop flat with the screen open. Note where the rubber screw covers sit along the bezel edge.
Pry off the rubber covers with a plastic pick and unscrew the small screws holding the bezel. Keep them in a cup.
Slide the pry tool into the seam between bezel and screen. Work around the edge and pop the clips gently.
Lift the bezel away slowly. Watch for the webcam and microphone cables and do not pull them.
Blow loose dust off the inside of the glass and the panel with short bursts of air.
Dampen a microfiber cloth with a little isopropyl alcohol. Wipe the inside of the glass and the panel edge.
Let the surfaces dry fully, then press the bezel back on until the clips click.
Refit the screws and rubber covers. Power the laptop on and check the screen for dust or marks.
Tips and common mistakes
Never spray liquid directly on the screen or panel. Put it on the cloth first.
Use only a plastic pry tool. A metal screwdriver can crack the glass or scratch the panel.
Take a photo of the screws and cable positions before you remove anything.
If the bezel feels stuck, stop and check for a hidden screw instead of forcing it.
Questions
Can I clean inside the screen without taking the bezel off?
No. Dust behind the front glass only comes out once the bezel is removed. For surface smudges, just wipe the outside with a damp microfiber cloth.
Will opening the screen void my warranty?
Often yes. Check your warranty terms first. On many laptops, removing the bezel or breaking a seal can void coverage.
What should I use to clean the panel?
Use a dry microfiber cloth or one lightly dampened with 70 percent isopropyl alcohol. Skip glass cleaners with ammonia.
