What you need
Steps
Open the Instagram app and go to your profile. Tap the three lines in the top right corner to open the menu.
Tap Accounts Center at the bottom of that menu. This is where email, phone and password settings now live.
Tap Personal details, then tap Contact info.
Tap Add new contact and choose whether you want to add an email address or a mobile number.
Type the new email or phone number and tap Next. Instagram sends a confirmation code to it.
Enter the code Instagram sent you and confirm. The new contact is now on your account.
Go back to Accounts Center and tap Password and security.
Type your current password, then your new password twice, and tap Change password to save it.
On the same Password and security screen, turn on two-factor authentication to protect the account.
Tips and common mistakes
Keep the old email or number active until the new one is confirmed, or you may lock yourself out.
Use a password you have not used on any other site, ideally one from a password manager.
Save your two-factor backup codes somewhere offline in case you lose your phone.
Removing the old contact is a separate step in Contact info, so delete it once the new one works.
Questions
Do I change my email in Instagram settings or Accounts Center?
In the current app you do it through Accounts Center, which you reach from the three line menu on your profile. The old direct settings screens are gone for most accounts.
Will changing my password log me out on other devices?
Usually yes, Instagram signs you out elsewhere and asks you to log in again with the new password. That is a good moment to check which devices still have access.
What if I no longer have the old email or phone number?
Add the new contact first if you can still log in, then remove the old one. If you are already locked out, use the login help screen and request a code to a contact you still control.
