Steps
Park on level ground and chock the rear wheels. Loosen the front wheel lug nuts slightly before lifting the car.
Raise the front of the car with the floor jack and set it on jack stands under the factory lift points. Never work under a car held only by a jack.
Remove the front wheels with the 21mm deep socket so you can reach the fender liners and bumper fasteners.
Use the trim tool to release the plastic clips and remove the front bumper cover. Keep the clips in a tray so none go missing.
Pull back the fender liner on the side with the reservoir. Unplug the washer pump connector and the fluid level sensor if fitted.
Disconnect the washer hose from the pump and let any remaining fluid drain into a pan.
Remove the 10mm and 8mm bolts holding the reservoir bracket, then lift the old reservoir out.
Set the new reservoir in place and refit the mounting bolts. Reconnect the pump, sensor and hose.
Refit the bumper cover and fender liner, then put the wheels back on and torque the lug nuts with the torque wrench.
Lower the car, fill the reservoir with washer fluid and test the sprayers before you drive.
Tips and common mistakes
Check the pump and hose seals before refitting, since a leaking pump often looks like a leaking tank.
Support the bumper cover while you unclip it so it does not drop and scratch the paint.
Torque the lug nuts to the spec in your owner's manual after refitting the wheels.
Questions
Do I have to remove the front bumper?
On this Sentra generation the reservoir sits behind the bumper and fender liner, so removing the bumper cover gives the easiest access. Some owners reach it by pulling only the liner, but space is tight.
How much washer fluid should I add?
Fill until the fluid reaches the marked level or the neck, then run the washers briefly to check for leaks at the pump and hose.
Can I drive with a leaking reservoir?
Yes, but you lose windshield cleaning, which hurts visibility. Fix it soon, especially before winter or long trips.
