What you need
Steps
Buy the correct blades first: 26 inch for the driver side, 16 inch for the passenger side and 12 inch for the rear window. Check the fitting type matches your Kona.
Park on level ground and switch the ignition off. Pull the wiper arms gently away from the windscreen until they stand up on their hinge.
Lay a folded cloth on the glass under the arm. If a blade snaps back, the cloth takes the hit instead of cracking the windscreen.
Lift the driver side arm and press the small release tab where the blade meets the arm. Slide the old blade down and off the hook.
Push the new 26 inch blade onto the hook until the tab clicks. Lower the arm slowly onto the glass and check it sits flat.
Repeat the same release and click steps for the 16 inch passenger blade. Keep hold of the arm so it does not spring back.
Go to the rear window. Lift the 12 inch rear arm, release the old blade and clip the new one into place.
Lower all arms, then run the wipers once on a wet screen. Watch for streaks, chatter or a loose blade and reseat anything that moves.
Tips and common mistakes
Never let a bare wiper arm drop onto the glass, as the metal can crack the windscreen.
Lift the arms only when the ignition is off so the wipers cannot start moving mid-job.
If the new blade chatters, check the tab is fully clicked in and the rubber is not twisted.
Replace blades about once a year, or sooner if they streak or squeak in the rain.
Questions
Do I need any tools for this job?
No. The blades clip on and off by hand on the 2024 to 2026 Kona. A cloth is handy to protect the glass.
What sizes does the Kona take?
The driver side is 26 inch, the passenger side is 16 inch and the rear is 12 inch. Confirm the fitting type before you buy.
How often should I change the wipers?
About once a year is typical. Change them sooner if they leave streaks, skip across the glass or squeal.
