What you need
Steps
On your phone, open Settings, About phone and tap Build number seven times to Developer options. On Xiaomi, tap MIUI version instead.
Go to Settings, System, Developer options and turn on USB debugging. On Samsung the menu sits under Settings, About phone, Software information.
Download the latest scrcpy release for Windows from the official GitHub page and unzip it to a folder you can find easily.
Connect the phone to the PC with a USB cable. Accept the Allow USB debugging prompt on the phone screen.
Open the scrcpy folder and double-click scrcpy.exe. A window showing your phone screen should appear within a few seconds.
For wireless use, run scrcpy with the tcpip option over USB first, then reconnect using your phone's IP address and port.
Use your mouse to tap and swipe. Type with your PC keyboard and copy and paste between phone and PC through the shared clipboard.
Drag and drop files onto the scrcpy window to send them to the phone, or drop an APK to install an app.
Record the phone screen by adding the record flag and a file name when you launch scrcpy. The video saves to the scrcpy folder.
Adjust quality with the bitrate flag and lock the view with the orientation flag if the screen keeps rotating.
Tips and common mistakes
Use a data-capable USB cable, since charge-only cables often stop the phone from showing up.
If the device is not detected, run adb devices in the scrcpy folder to check the connection.
Keep the phone unlocked when you first connect so the debugging prompt can appear.
Wireless mirroring works best on the same Wi-Fi network with a stable signal.
Questions
Does scrcpy need root?
No. scrcpy works on a normal Android phone with USB debugging turned on. No root or custom ROM is needed.
Why does scrcpy say no device found?
The phone is usually not authorised yet. Reconnect the cable, the phone and accept the USB debugging prompt, then check with adb devices.
Can I record the phone screen with sound?
Scrcpy records video only by default. Android does not allow it to capture internal audio without extra setup, so record audio separately if you need it.
