What you need
Steps
Open your current resume and copy all the text into a plain document. Remove tables, columns and graphics first so Claude receives clean, readable text.
Copy the full job description from the posting, including the responsibilities, required skills and qualifications. Keep the company and job title in the text.
Start a new Claude chat and paste your resume text and the job description. Ask Claude to rewrite your resume for that job in a single-column Jack Ryan format, adding relevant ATS keywords and keeping every fact true.
Read the rewritten resume line by line. Replace vague bullets with action, tool and result, and add numbers only where you can prove them. Delete anything Claude invented.
Create a new Google Doc. Paste the text as plain text, use one column, standard headings such as Experience and Education, and a readable font at 10 to 12 points.
Remove tables, text boxes, images, headers and footers. These can confuse applicant tracking systems and break the reading order.
Download the document as a PDF, open it and select text to confirm it is readable. Name the file with your name and the job title.
Tips and common mistakes
Keep a master resume with every true achievement, then tailor a copy for each application.
Use the job description's exact keywords only when they honestly describe your skills.
Check page breaks in the PDF because a split bullet or heading looks careless.
Do not let Claude add employers, dates, degrees or metrics you cannot support.
Questions
Do I need a paid Claude account?
No. The video uses the free Claude chat. You need an account and enough message allowance for a few revisions.
Will this guarantee I pass ATS?
No tool can guarantee that. A clean single-column PDF with matching keywords improves readability, but the content must still match the job.
Can I use Google Docs instead of Word?
Yes. Build the resume in Google Docs and export a PDF. Keep a DOCX copy if an employer asks for an editable file.
