How to draw the FC Barcelona crest step by step

You will draw the FC Barcelona badge by building it from simple shapes: a shield, a cross, striped flags and a football. It suits beginners and fans who want a clean, recognisable crest on paper. All you need is a pencil, a ruler and blue, red and yellow colours.

What you need

Steps

  1. Draw the shield outline in light pencil. Make the top edge wide and straight, then bring the sides down and angle the bottom corners in to a shallow point. Use a ruler for the straight edges.

  2. Draw a horizontal line across the shield just above the middle. Split the top half with a vertical line so you have two equal quarters side by side.

  3. In the top left quarter, draw a thick cross with four even arms. Leave a clear white border around each arm so the cross stands out.

  4. In the top right quarter, draw four or five vertical stripes. Keep the gaps between them the same width so the flag looks even.

  5. Draw a wide band across the middle of the shield, just below the top quarters. This is where the FCB letters will sit.

  6. Sketch the letters F, C and B inside the band in light pencil. Keep them tall, upright and evenly spaced, then go over them once you are happy with the shape.

  7. Draw the football in the bottom half: a circle with a small pentagon in the middle, then short lines running from each corner of the pentagon out to the circle.

  8. Colour the bottom half in blue and red stripes around the ball. Make the ball yellow, the flag stripes yellow and red, and the cross red on white.

  9. Go over every outline with a black fineliner, let the ink dry, then erase the pencil guides. Work slowly around the letters and the ball.

Tips and common mistakes

Keep your pencil lines very light until the layout looks right, because dark lines are hard to rub out cleanly.

Check the proportions against a photo of the real badge before you colour anything in.

Colour the yellow areas first, then the red and blue, so the darker pens do not smudge into the light ones.

Rest your hand on a spare sheet of paper while colouring to stop the ink and pencil from smearing.

Questions

Do I need to be good at drawing to follow this?

No. The crest is built from straight lines, a cross, stripes and a circle, so it works for complete beginners. Take your time with the shield shape and the rest is easy.

What colours do I need for the FC Barcelona badge?

You need blue, red and yellow, plus black for the outlines and white paper for the background. A blue and a red marker or coloured pencil are enough to start.

Can I use the same method for other football crests?

Yes. Most club badges are a shield or circle with simple bands and shapes inside, so the same build-it-from-shapes approach works for other teams.
