Draw a light mitten shape for the palm. Make it roughly as wide as it is tall and tilt it slightly toward the direction you want the hand to face.
Mark four small dots along the top edge of the palm. Space them evenly so each finger gets a knuckle position.
Add the thumb as a separate rounded shape on the side of the palm, starting about halfway up and angling out.
Draw each finger from its knuckle dot as two connected tubes, one for each joint. Curve them slightly so the hand looks relaxed.
Taper each finger toward the tip. Check that the middle finger is the longest, then the index and ring finger, then the little finger.
Add the wrist with two lines going down from the sides of the palm. Keep the wrist narrower than the widest part of the palm.
Sketch small rounded rectangles at the fingertips for the nails. Angle them slightly so they follow the curve of each finger.
Erase the construction lines and darken the final outline. Soften any corner that looks too sharp.
Add light shading down one side of the fingers and under the thumb, then smudge it gently with your finger or a tissue.
