Steps
Draw a horizontal horizon line across the middle of your paper. Place two dots on it, one near the left edge and one near the right edge. These are your two vanishing points.
Lightly mark the front vertical edge of the chair, a short straight line below the horizon. This is the nearest corner of the seat.
From the top and bottom of that edge, draw light lines to the left vanishing point. From the same two points, draw lines to the right vanishing point.
Mark where you want the seat to end on each side, then draw vertical lines down from those marks to set the seat depth.
Connect the seat corners back to the opposite vanishing points to close the seat as a flat box shape.
Draw the back legs down from the rear seat corners, keeping them vertical and the same length as the front legs.
Add the backrest by drawing two vertical posts up from the rear seat corners, then connect their tops with lines going to the same vanishing points.
Go over the final chair outline with a darker pencil and erase the light guide lines and construction marks.
Tips and common mistakes
Keep every vertical line truly vertical, since only the receding lines go to the vanishing points.
Draw all guide lines lightly so you can erase them cleanly at the end.
Keep both vanishing points far apart or the chair will look stretched and distorted.
Questions
Do I need a ruler?
A ruler helps a lot at first because straight lines to the vanishing points are the whole method. You can draw freehand once you get the hang of it.
Where should the vanishing points go?
Put them on the horizon line, well outside the area where you plan to draw the chair. Closer points make the drawing look warped.
Can I use this for other furniture?
Yes. The same box method works for tables, boxes and simple buildings.
