What you need

Steps

  1. Sign in at make.powerautomate.com, or open office.com and pick Power Automate from the app list. Use the Microsoft account tied to your email or Microsoft 365 plan.

  2. Look over the left menu. Create starts a new flow, Templates gives ready-made ones, and My flows lists everything you have built.

  3. Click Create in the left menu, then choose Scheduled cloud flow. This is the template for anything that repeats on a timer.

  4. Give the flow a name, then set the starting date and time and how often it repeats, for example every 1 day. Click Create.

  5. In the flow designer, click New step and search for the action you want, such as Send an email (V2) in Outlook. Select it.

  6. Fill in the action fields. Type the recipient, a subject and your message, or click into a field and pick dynamic content from the trigger.

  7. Click Save, then click Test and choose Manually to run the flow once and confirm the email or action arrives as expected.

  8. Open My flows to see the 28-day run history, check for failures, and turn the flow off with the toggle when you no longer need it.

Tips and common mistakes

Test with your own email address before sending anything to other people.

Check the time zone on the scheduled trigger, since it can differ from your computer clock.

Keep the first flow to one or two actions and add more once it runs cleanly.

A failed run usually means a missing connection, so open the run and re-sign in to the service.

Questions

Do I need to pay for Power Automate?

A basic Microsoft account gives you a limited plan with scheduled and instant cloud flows. Larger limits and premium connectors come with a paid Power Automate plan through Microsoft 365.

How do I change the schedule later?

Open My flows, click the flow, then edit the Recurrence step and save. The new interval applies from the next run.

What is the difference between a scheduled and an instant flow?

A scheduled flow starts on its own at the times you set. An instant flow runs only when you click a button or trigger it manually.
