Steps
Run the engine for a few minutes to warm the oil, then shut it off. Warm oil drains faster and carries more dirt out, but let it sit a little so the plug is not scalding.
Park on level ground and lift the front on ramps or jack stands. Chock the rear wheels and never put your body under a car held only by a jack.
Slide the drain pan under the sump plug and loosen the plug with a socket. Pull it out by hand at the end and let the oil drain until it slows to a drip.
Wipe the plug, fit a new washer and thread it back in by hand so you do not cross the threads. Tighten to about 25 lb-ft, or the torque listed in your owner's manual.
Open the filter housing on the front of the engine and lift out the old cartridge. Swap the O-rings for the new ones, seat the new filter and refit the cap.
Pour in about 6 quarts of 0W-40 through a funnel, then check the dipstick before adding the rest. The 6.2L takes roughly 7 quarts with a filter change.
Start the engine and let it idle for a minute. Watch under the car for drips at the plug and filter housing, then shut it off and check the level again after a few minutes.
Top up to the full mark on the dipstick and reset the oil life monitor through the EVIC or Uconnect menu so the next reminder is accurate.
Tips and common mistakes
Use only oil that meets the MS-12633 spec, since the supercharged 6.2L is harder on oil than a standard V8.
Check the old filter housing O-ring came out with the cartridge, or the new filter will not seal.
Do not overtighten the drain plug or the plastic filter cap, as both are easy to strip.
Take the car for a short drive, park it level and recheck the level the next morning.
Questions
How much oil does a Hellcat take?
Around 7 quarts including the filter, but fill about 6 first and bring it up to the dipstick mark. Overfilling a supercharged engine can cause foaming.
What oil should I use?
A full synthetic 0W-40 that meets the Mopar MS-12633 specification. Check the cap or owner's manual if you are unsure.
How often should I change it?
Follow the oil life monitor or your owner's manual interval, and shorten it if you track the car or do a lot of short trips.
