What you need
Steps
Park on level ground, set the parking brake and switch the ignition on without starting the engine so the MMI boots up fully.
Open the MMI home menu and tap Vehicle. On some versions you press the CAR button on the centre console instead.
Tap Service and control, then Service intervals. If you cannot see it, look under Vehicle settings for the same entry.
Pick the item you want to clear: Oil change interval or Inspection interval. These are separate entries, so deal with each one you need.
Tap Reset and confirm the prompt. Give the MMI a few seconds to store the new date and mileage.
Switch the ignition off, wait about 30 seconds, then turn it back on and reopen Service intervals to confirm the next due date is showing.
If the reset option is greyed out, drive until the service due message appears on the dash, or have a garage clear it with a diagnostic tool through the OBD port.
Tips and common mistakes
Only reset after the oil, filter or inspection work is actually finished, or you will lose track of real maintenance.
Clearing the oil change interval does not clear the inspection interval, so check both entries.
Write the date and mileage in your service book so the paper record matches what the car now shows.
Menu wording varies slightly by model year and firmware, so look under Vehicle settings if Service intervals is not on the first screen.
Questions
Can I reset the reminder without doing the service?
The menu will let you, but it then hides overdue maintenance. Only reset once the oil change or inspection has actually been carried out.
Why is the Reset button greyed out?
On some Q7 versions the reset only unlocks when the service due warning is on the display, and the ignition must be on with the engine off.
Does this reset the inspection reminder too?
No. Oil change and inspection intervals are listed separately, so you have to reset each one you want to clear.
