What you need

Steps

  1. Open the Sticky Notes app from the Start menu. If it is not installed, get it free from the Microsoft Store.

  2. Click the plus button to create a new note. The cursor goes straight into the note so you can type right away.

  3. Click the camera or screenshot icon on the note toolbar to start a capture.

  4. Drag over the area you want to save, or pick the window you want. The screenshot drops into the note as an image.

  5. Check that the website link appears under the image when you capture from a browser. It is added automatically.

  6. Type a short label above the image so you remember why you saved it.

  7. Close the note. It saves on its own and stays in your notes list.

Tips and common mistakes

Capture only the part you need so notes stay small and easy to scan.

The link is grabbed from the browser tab, so capture from the page itself, not a saved file.

Sign in with your Microsoft account so notes sync across your devices.

Questions

Does the screenshot save as a separate file?

No. The image lives inside the Sticky Note. You can copy it out later if you need a file.

Why is no website link added to my note?

The link only comes through when you capture from a browser page. Captures from other apps just add the image.

Can I edit or delete the screenshot later?

Yes. Open the note, then right-click the image to copy or remove it.
