What you need
Steps
Sign in to Claude Design 2.0 in your browser and spend a few minutes finding the canvas, the prompt box and the export menu.
Learn the five levels in order. Level one is the interface, so get comfortable with it before you start a real design.
Write a first prompt that names the output (slides, a web page or an animation), the number of slides, and your colours and fonts.
Build the rest in short follow-up prompts, one change at a time, instead of rewriting the whole brief.
Point the tool at a GitHub repo when you want slides built from content you already have written.
Edit text, layout and images directly on the canvas rather than asking for the same change again in the prompt.
Connect Firecrawl and give it your website address so it pulls your logo, colours and fonts into a brand identity.
Export the finished design to PowerPoint or PDF when you need a file you can open or share outside the tool.
Hand the design over to Claude Code to keep building. If files go missing, download the project as a zip and pass that across instead.
Install Open Design locally and pick the model you want per job, including cheaper models for bulk or repetitive work.
Tips and common mistakes
Do the interface level properly first. Knowing where the canvas controls and export options sit saves a lot of re-prompting later.
Scrape your brand with Firecrawl before you design anything, so every slide pulls the same colours and fonts.
Keep follow-up prompts short and specific. One change per prompt is easier to undo than a full rewrite.
Test the zip handover on a small project before you move a whole deck across to Claude Code.
Questions
Do I need to know how to code?
No. The first three levels are all prompting and editing on the canvas. Code and local setup only come in at levels four and five.
Can I export the design to PowerPoint?
Yes. The design can be exported to PowerPoint and PDF, so you can keep editing in a normal deck or share a fixed file.
What is the zip workaround for?
The handover to Claude Code can drop files. Downloading the project as a zip and handing that over instead fixes the missing-file problem.
