Steps
Play the intro and the first group at 0:06: bus, taxi, metro, tram and train. Pause after each word and say it aloud twice before moving on.
Move to 1:06 and repeat trolley bus, ferry, school bus and cable car. Point at the screen and name each vehicle before the narrator does.
At 1:54, work through the road and electric group: car, motorcycle, minibus, bicycle, electric bicycle and electric scooter. Copy each word into your notebook with the article, like a bicycle.
Continue at 3:06 with scooter, moped, metro bus, motorcycle taxi and rickshaw. Say the two-word names slowly so you stress both parts.
At 4:06, learn funicular, water taxi, Segway, golf cart, skateboard and roller skates. Note that funicular and Segway are less common words, so write a short meaning next to each.
Finish the list at 5:18 with airplane and helicopter. Add any vehicle you already know that belongs in the same air group.
Draw a quick sketch of each vehicle on an index card, with the English word on the back. Keep the drawing simple, a few lines is enough.
Sort the cards into three piles: land, water and air. Then split the land pile again into public transport and private vehicles.
Shuffle the cards and test yourself. Look at each picture, say the English word out loud, then turn the card over to check.
Pick five words and say one sentence about each, such as I take the metro to work. Repeat the full card test the next day.
Tips and common mistakes
Say every word aloud, because silent reading makes pronunciation harder to remember.
Learn the lookalike pairs together: tram and train, scooter and moped, bus and metro bus.
Review your cards after one day and again after three days instead of cramming once.
Write the article a or an before each word so you remember how to use it in a sentence.
Questions
How many words does the lesson cover?
The video covers 30 transport words, from bus and taxi to airplane and helicopter. They are shown one at a time with short gaps so you can repeat each one.
What is the difference between a tram and a trolley bus?
A tram runs on rails set into the road, while a trolley bus runs on normal tyres and takes power from overhead wires. Both are city transport, so learn them as a pair.
How long does it take to remember all 30 words?
Most learners can recognise all 30 in one 25 minute session. Being able to recall them without help usually takes two or three short reviews over a few days.
