What you need

Steps

  1. Open Treble Info and check that your phone supports Project Treble and Dynamic System Updates. Note the CPU architecture and the A/B or A-only slot type it reports.

  2. Download an Android 16 GSI image that matches the architecture and slot type Treble Info showed. Save the file in your phone's Downloads folder.

  3. Open Settings, tap About phone and tap Build number seven times to Developer Options. Then turn on Wireless debugging in the Developer Options menu.

  4. Install Shizuku from the Play Store and open it. Choose the Wireless debugging pairing option, enter the pairing code and connect. Keep the phone on the same Wi-Fi network.

  5. Open DSU Sideloader and grant it Shizuku permission when asked. Tap the file picker and select the Android 16 GSI image you downloaded.

  6. Set the userdata size if the app asks, then tap Install. Wait while the image is copied and prepared. Do not lock the screen or close the app.

  7. When the install finishes, tap the notification to boot into Android 16. The first boot can take several minutes.

  8. Open Settings, then About phone, and confirm the Android version shows 16. Your original system and data are still on the phone.

  9. To go back, open Settings in the Android 16 session, find the Dynamic System Updates entry and choose to discard or wipe the installed image. The phone reboots into your original Android.

Tips and common mistakes

Back up important files first, because a failed GSI boot can leave the test system unusable even though your main data stays intact.

Use a GSI build that matches your phone's architecture and slot type, or the image may not boot.

Keep the phone charged above 50 percent and stay on a stable Wi-Fi network during the install.

If Android 16 does not boot, restart the phone and discard the DSU image from the notification or Settings.

Questions

Will this erase my current Android data?

No. DSU installs Android 16 as a separate system image, so your original Android and files stay in place. You can remove the test image at any time.

Do I need a PC or root access?

No PC and no root are needed. Shizuku uses Wireless debugging to grant DSU Sideloader the permissions it needs.

Why does DSU Sideloader say my device is not supported?

Your phone likely lacks Dynamic System Updates or Project Treble support. Check Treble Info first, since some older or budget phones cannot run a GSI this way.
