Steps
Click the network icon in the taskbar and check that Wi-Fi is switched on and airplane mode is off. If your laptop has a Wi-Fi key or switch, press it once.
Unplug the router's power for 30 seconds, plug it back in and wait about 2 minutes for the lights to settle. Then try connecting again.
Open Settings, go to Network and internet, then Wi-Fi, then Manage known networks. Select your network, click Forget, and reconnect with the password.
Go to Settings, System, Troubleshoot, Other troubleshooters, then click Run next to Network and Internet. Apply any fix it suggests.
Right-click Start and open Device Manager. Expand Network adapters, right-click your Wi-Fi adapter, choose Update driver, then Search automatically for drivers.
If the driver will not update, right-click the adapter and choose Uninstall device, then restart the PC so Windows installs a fresh driver on boot.
Press Windows+R, type services.msc and press Enter. Find WLAN AutoConfig, set Startup type to Automatic, then click Start and OK.
As a last resort, open Settings, Network and internet, Advanced network settings, then Network reset and click Reset now. The PC restarts and you rejoin the network.
Tips and common mistakes
Write down your Wi-Fi password before you forget the network, so you can reconnect without hunting for it.
Check whether other devices reach the internet on the same Wi-Fi. If none do, the problem is the router or provider, not Windows.
A network reset wipes saved Wi-Fi networks and VPN settings, so use it only after the simpler steps fail.
Questions
Why does Windows 11 show Wi-Fi but no internet?
The PC is connected to the router but the router has no working link to your provider. Restart the router first, then run the network troubleshooter.
Will a network reset delete my files?
No. It only removes saved Wi-Fi networks, VPN profiles and resets network adapters to default. Your documents and apps stay untouched.
How do I know if my Wi-Fi adapter is broken?
If Device Manager shows a warning triangle on the adapter, or the Wi-Fi option disappears completely after a driver reinstall, the adapter or its driver needs attention.
