Steps
Open Device Manager. Click Start, type Device Manager, and press Enter, or right-click the Start button and choose Device Manager from the menu.
Expand Network adapters and find your Wi-Fi adapter. It usually has Wi-Fi, Wireless or Intel in the name.
Right-click the Wi-Fi adapter and choose Properties. Open the Advanced tab to see the list of settings.
Select MIMO Power Save Mode in the property list. If you do not see it, check the other power-related entries in the list.
Change the value to No SMPS or the option that disables power saving. Click OK to apply it.
Reconnect your headphones and play audio to test. If stuttering continues, repeat the steps for the Bluetooth adapter in the same list.
Tips and common mistakes
Do not change random adapter settings. Only touch MIMO Power Save Mode or similar power-saving options.
Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 networks on 6 GHz can clash with Bluetooth, so moving your router away from the laptop may also help.
If the setting does not stick, update the Wi-Fi adapter driver from the laptop maker's website and try again.
Questions
Will this fix work if my headphones cut out on other devices too?
No. If the same headphones stutter on your phone, the problem is likely the headphones, not the laptop. Test them elsewhere first.
Do I need to restart after changing the setting?
Usually no. The change applies right away, but reconnecting the headphones or restarting once can help it take effect.
Why does my Bluetooth only cut out when Wi-Fi is busy?
Bluetooth and some Wi-Fi bands share radio space. Heavy Wi-Fi traffic, especially on 6 GHz networks, can interrupt the Bluetooth audio stream.
