What you need
Steps
Draw a light horizon line across the middle of the page. Mark one vanishing point on it, slightly off center, with a small dot.
Sketch the front face of the house as a rectangle. Then draw lines from its top and bottom corners back toward the vanishing point.
Close the side of the house where the perspective lines meet the back edge. Keep those lines light so you can adjust them.
Add a slanted roof on top of the house. Make the roof edges follow the same lines toward the vanishing point.
Draw a curved wall beside the house using two gentle arcs. Join them with short vertical lines to give the wall thickness.
Sketch a set of stone steps in front of the house. Draw each step as a shallow rectangle, getting narrower as it goes back.
Add a door and a few small windows on the front wall. Keep them square to the wall so the perspective stays correct.
Draw two or three simple trees behind and beside the house. Use a trunk line and a rough cloud shape for the leaves.
Add stone texture to the wall and steps with small irregular ovals. Space them out so the surface does not look crowded.
Shade the side of the house, under the roof and behind the steps. Erase any guide lines you no longer need.
Tips and common mistakes
Keep your first lines very light so mistakes are easy to erase.
All receding lines should aim at the same vanishing point or the drawing will look tilted.
Shade in one direction and build up layers slowly for a cleaner finish.
Use a harder pencil for guide lines and a softer 2B for the dark shadows.
Questions
Do I need a ruler for this drawing?
No. Freehand lines work fine, and a light hand keeps them easy to correct. A ruler can help if you want very straight perspective lines.
How do I make the house look 3D?
Keep all side lines pointing to one vanishing point and shade the side face darker than the front. That contrast creates the depth.
What pencil should a beginner use?
An HB pencil is good for sketching and a 2B works well for shading. Keep an eraser nearby for the guide lines.
