Steps
Open CapCut on your PC, create a new project and drag your video clip onto the timeline.
Click the clip, then use the duplicate option in the toolbar or right-click menu to make a copy. Keep the copy on the track above the original.
Select the top clip and open Effects. Search for a blur effect and drag it onto that clip only.
With the top clip still selected, open Video > Mask and choose the circle mask.
Drag and resize the circle over the face so it covers only the face area.
If the blur shows outside the circle instead of inside, click Invert to reverse the mask.
Move the playhead to the start of the clip and click the keyframe button next to the mask position and size settings.
Step forward a few frames, then move and resize the circle to stay on the face. CapCut adds a new keyframe each time you change a value.
Repeat this every few seconds until the end of the clip, then play it back to check the blur follows the face.
Adjust the blur strength in the effect settings if the face is still recognisable, then export the video.
Tips and common mistakes
Add keyframes more often when the person moves fast, or the blur will drift off the face.
Keep the mask circle slightly larger than the face so the edges stay covered.
Use the original clip underneath for clean audio and the duplicate only for the blur.
Zoom into the preview while placing keyframes to line up the mask more accurately.
Questions
Why is the area outside the circle blurred instead of the face?
The mask is hiding the wrong part. Click Invert in the mask settings to swap it so only the face is blurred.
Can CapCut track the face automatically?
CapCut PC does not reliably auto-track faces with masks. Placing keyframes by hand, as shown here, is the dependable method.
Do I need to duplicate the clip?
Yes. The blur effect and mask go on the top copy, while the original underneath keeps the rest of the frame and audio normal.
