What you need
Steps
Open Settings on your phone and tap System, then Languages and input. On Samsung phones tap General management instead of System.
Tap On-screen keyboard or Keyboards, then tap the keyboard you use, such as Gboard or Samsung Keyboard.
Tap Languages, then Add keyboard. This opens the full list of available languages.
Scroll to Korean (한국어) and tap it. Choose 2-set Korean (두벌식), the standard layout that matches a computer keyboard.
Open any text field, like a message or the search bar, and tap the globe key on the keyboard to switch to Korean. If there is no globe key, swipe sideways on the spacebar.
Tap the globe again to switch back to English. Long-press the globe to pick a language straight from a list.
Tips and common mistakes
2-set Korean (두벌식) is the layout most Korean speakers use, so start there and try 3-set only if you already learned it.
If Korean is missing from the list, update your keyboard app in the Play Store and check again.
On Samsung phones the path is Settings, General management, Samsung Keyboard, Languages and types, Manage input languages.
Adding a keyboard only changes typing. Add Korean under the phone's language settings too if you also want Korean menus.
Questions
How do I switch between English and Korean while typing?
Tap the globe key on the keyboard, or swipe sideways on the spacebar. Long-press the globe to choose a language from a list.
Why can't I find Korean in the list?
Make sure you opened Add keyboard inside the keyboard app's own Languages menu, not the phone's language list. If it is still missing, update the keyboard app.
Do I have to change my whole phone to Korean?
No. Adding a keyboard only affects typing. You can add Korean as a system language separately if you want Korean menus and settings text.
