What you need
Steps
Collect at least two KJSEA-style English Paper 1 papers with answer keys. Print them, or keep them open on a device you will not use for chatting.
Sit the first paper in one go with a timer, using the real exam time. Do not look at the key or your notes while you write.
Mark your answers with the key and write the score at the top. Be strict, and mark anything you guessed as wrong.
List every wrong answer under a topic heading: reading comprehension, vocabulary, oral skills, collective nouns, reflexive pronouns, direct and reported speech, question tags, subject-verb agreement, tenses, prepositions, conjunctions, punctuation, active and passive voice, sentence combination, phrasal verbs or idioms.
Pick the two topics with the most errors and reread the rules for each in your class notes or textbook before you touch another paper.
Redo only those questions without the key. Explain each correct answer aloud in one sentence, as if teaching a classmate.
Work through the rest of the paper question by question with the key, noting why each right answer is right and each distractor is wrong.
Wait two or three days, then sit the second paper cold and compare scores topic by topic. Any topic still weak gets another round of notes and practice.
Tips and common mistakes
Mark guessed answers as wrong so your error list shows the real gaps.
Do one full paper a week rather than five in one night, so the corrections stick.
Keep your error list in one notebook and read it the morning before the exam.
Time yourself, because running out of minutes costs marks as easily as not knowing the grammar.
Questions
How many past papers should I do before KJSEA?
Aim for three to five full Paper 1 papers with proper marking and corrections. One paper done carefully with an error list beats five papers you never review.
What if I cannot find real KJSEA past papers?
Use KJSEA-style prediction papers and your school's end-of-term English papers. The question types are similar, and the marking and correction routine is what improves your score.
Should I revise topics I already get right?
Only briefly. Spend most of your revision time on the two or three topics that appear most in your error list, then check them again on your next paper.
