What you need
Steps
Open Canva and create your design, such as a poster, planner or invitation. Keep the layout simple so buyers can edit text and images easily.
Click Share in the top right, then choose Template link. Set the link to allow template use, not just viewing.
Copy the template link and paste it into a plain text file or a short PDF. This file is what buyers will download after purchase.
Save your Canva project before you upload anything. Check the design name and that the template link opens in a private window.
Log in to Etsy and go to Shop Manager, then Listings, then Add a listing. Upload a preview image of your design.
Set the listing type to Digital and upload your link file. Add a title, tags and a description that explains how buyers get the template.
Set your price and publish the listing. Test the download yourself to confirm the link works.
Decide on licensing. Free Canva elements can be sold in your designs, but Pro elements have limits, so check Canva's rules before listing.
Tips and common mistakes
Always open your template link in a private browser window to confirm buyers can edit it without seeing your account.
Do not edit the master template after buyers have copied it, or their versions may not update as expected.
Use a clear preview image and state in the description that this is an editable Canva template, not a finished file.
Keep a backup copy of your design and link file in case a listing is removed or a link breaks.
Questions
Do I need Canva Pro to sell templates?
No. You can make and sell template links with the free version of Canva. Pro gives more elements, but check the licensing rules for anything you sell.
Can I sell designs that use Canva Pro elements?
Only within Canva's licence terms. Some Pro elements cannot be sold as standalone items, so read the rules before you list.
What file do buyers download?
A small file, usually a PDF or text document, that contains your Canva template link and simple instructions for using it.
