What you need
Steps
Open a blank document or a simple one-page resume template. Acting resumes are single page, so keep the layout clean with one font and clear headings.
Put your name at the top in a larger font. Add your headshot in the top corner and keep it small, about one inch wide.
Add a contact line under your name with your email, phone number and city. Skip your full street address for safety.
Create a section called Training. List acting classes, workshops, voice or dance lessons with the teacher or school and the year.
Add a Skills section. Include accents, instruments, sports, dance styles and any special abilities you can actually perform.
Add a Special Skills or Experience section for school plays, church productions or student films. List the role, production and director.
Include your measurements only if a casting notice asks for them. Height, hair and eye colour are common for film work.
Keep the whole resume to one page and check spelling. Save it as a PDF so the layout stays the same when you email it.
Tips and common mistakes
Never list a skill you cannot demonstrate at an audition, because you may be asked to show it.
Leave out jobs unrelated to acting unless they show a skill like stage combat or dance.
Update the resume after every class or small role so it grows as you gain experience.
Questions
What if I have no credits at all?
Lead with your Training and Skills sections. Casting directors accept a resume built on classes and special abilities when you are starting out.
Should I put my age on an acting resume?
Usually no. Your headshot shows your look, and many casting calls ask for a playing age range instead of your real age.
Do I need a professional headshot first?
A clear, well-lit photo against a plain background works to start. Replace it with a professional headshot once you can afford one.
