Steps
Open the Settings app on your iPhone and scroll down until you see Safari in the list of apps.
Tap Safari, then scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Advanced.
Tap Website Data. Wait a few seconds while iOS counts the sites and works out the total size.
To remove one site, swipe left on its name in the list and tap Delete.
To wipe everything, tap Remove All Website Data at the bottom, then tap Remove All Website Data again to confirm.
Stay away from the Clear History and Website Data button on the main Safari settings page. That one also erases your browsing history, which is what you are trying to keep.
Open Safari again and load a site you cleared. It downloads fresh files, so the first load may be slightly slower.
Tips and common mistakes
Clearing website data signs you out of most sites, so keep your passwords handy or saved in iCloud Keychain.
Private browsing tabs keep their own data, so close those tabs separately if you want them gone too.
The cache fills up again within days of normal browsing, so repeat this only when a site misbehaves or storage is tight.
Check Settings, General, iPhone Storage to see how much space Safari is actually using before you clear anything.
Questions
Will this delete my Safari history?
No. Removing website data leaves your history list and open tabs untouched. Just avoid the Clear History and Website Data option, which deletes both.
Where do I find website data on newer iOS versions?
It lives under Settings, Safari, Advanced, Website Data. On some older versions the same list sits under Settings, Safari, Advanced, Website Data with an identical layout.
Does clearing website data free up much space?
Usually only a small amount, often a few hundred megabytes at most. For bigger savings, look at photos, messages and unused apps in iPhone Storage.
