Steps
Install Albumer from the App Store or Google Play and sign in. Create a shared album and add the photos and videos you want on the TV.
Turn on your smart TV and open its built-in web browser. If your TV has no browser, use a streaming stick or console with one.
In the TV browser, go to join.albumer.com/tv. A short code appears on the screen.
On your phone, open Albumer and go to the Cast to TV screen. Type the code shown on your TV.
Pick the album you want to show. The photos start playing as a slideshow on the TV.
Leave the album running. Videos play too, and new photos anyone adds to the album appear on the TV by themselves.
Put your phone away when the slideshow starts. Nothing streams from the phone, so it can sleep or leave the room.
When you are done, stop the cast from your phone or close the page in the TV browser.
Tips and common mistakes
Keep the TV browser page open the whole time, or the slideshow stops.
Check that your phone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network before you start.
Invite family to the album first so their photos show up during the slideshow.
If the code does not work, reload join.albumer.com/tv to get a fresh one.
Questions
Do I need a Chromecast or Apple TV?
No. The slideshow runs in your TV's web browser, so a smart TV with a browser is enough.
Does my phone need to stay on?
No. Nothing streams from your phone, so you can lock it or put it away while the slideshow plays.
Can I add photos during the slideshow?
Yes. Anyone in the shared album can add photos, and they appear on the TV on their own.
