What you need
Steps
Apply your cream bronzer and cream blush first and blend them well. Leave them slightly tacky rather than powdering over them, so the powder has something to grip.
Load a fluffy brush lightly with powder bronzer. Tap the brush on the back of your hand or the lid to knock off the excess before it touches your face.
Sweep the bronzer along the top of your cheekbones and up into your temples. Then take what is left on the brush around your jawline and hairline.
Use a smaller brush with a light hand for the sides of your nose and any edges. Build the colour in thin layers instead of one heavy pass.
Pick up powder blush on a soft brush and tap off the excess. Smile slightly and place it on the apples of your cheeks.
Blend the blush upward toward your temples in small circles. Keep it soft at the edges so it melts into the bronzer instead of sitting in a stripe.
Buff the border where blush meets bronzer with a clean brush if you see a hard line. Check the result in daylight, since indoor light hides heavy patches.
Tips and common mistakes
Start with less powder than you think you need, because it is much easier to add than to remove.
Powder over cream sets the cream in place, so always apply the cream versions before the powders.
Keep bronzer on the outer edges of the face and blush closer to the centre to avoid a muddy look.
If a patch goes too dark, buff it with a clean brush or press a little translucent powder over it.
Questions
Do I need both cream and powder bronzer?
No. You can use powder bronzer on its own. Cream first and powder on top gives more depth and helps the colour last longer.
Which comes first, bronzer or blush?
Bronzer first, then blush. That way you place the blush on top of the bronzed areas and can see how much colour you actually need.
Why does my powder blush look patchy?
Usually too much product on the brush or an unblended cream base underneath. Tap off the excess and press the powder on gently instead of sweeping hard.
